With London Beer Week (the week before) getting the great city in the mood for everything drink, both the Olympia and the Excel center were rammed with hundreds and thousands of Industry and Consumer alike to see what this year’s expos had to offer!
The week began with Hotelympia at the Excel London showcasing the best and biggest in the trade. The Expo played host to the likes of Utopia Tableware, who not only had one of the largest stands but also a fully functioning bar, fully equipped with a Mixologist, which is always the best way to test out glassware, other exhibitors were Ogilvy Spirits, Scotland’s first Potato Vodka producer!
Post Hotelympia shenanigans the Mixology Group were invited to the exciting launch of the new Instil Drinks Co. Portfolio at the Deck overlooking Tower Bridge. Adding to there already incredible collection (Crystal Head Vodka and Villa Lobos Tequila to name but a few) were the likes of the first and only, truly unique Scottish Spiced Rum, Dark Matter, the incredibly easy drinking Pococello, the home grown, Jensen’s Gin and a great selection of beers from the brilliantly named Yeastie Boys Brewery!
As you can expect, day 2 of our exposition-mission began with slightly sore heads, safe to say the Barista Stalls giving out coffee and water came very much in handy!
International Confex 2016 took over the Olympia in Kensington and was exhibiting a vast range of new technologies, products and unique companies working within the events industry. The Trinity Set were located on the upper floor, offering a (semi) secret immersive bar and dining experience within a rather large shipping crate and tech companies like doubledutch, who are taking the live event experience into the digital age, were pocketed across the expo.
Oh and Steph and Dom from Gogglebox were guest speakers.
Thinking about it all it really needs is a few decent bands playing and it could easily become the biggest, most fun indoor festival in the UK, they even had a couple of CAT diggers and trucks to play with, a Mad Hatters Tea Party, a gigantic rotating circus elephant and I should probably mention the indoor miniature forest but I guess you can see that all for yourself next year…
