This week saw Mixology group hold Brighton’s first Molecular Mixology course at their secret hideaway venue in central Brighton. Just a stone’s throw away from the main rail station and tucked away just off the main strip, this contemporary speakeasy is a perfect training space.

Bartenders based in London and around the globe came together as Mixology Group’s own Myles Cunliffe talked them through the basics of the craft. In attendance were delegates from the London Flair Club, including it’s founder – international bar and training consultant Clinton Weir. They were joined by top-flight event and training bartenders working in and around the capital.

The course was extremely successful and all those who made it went away with a sound understanding of the fundamental principles of MM. Caviars, general spherification and reverse method as well as foams, airs and other tips and tricks were all covered in great detail.

The course ran in real time allowing all delegates to experience preparing a range of molecular concoctions from the ground up as though in a real service environment. Those on the course remarked that this is what really made the course, and they ranked it as one of the most useful courses they had attended.

Mixology Group also remain busy on the events circuit, notching up 12 events in the last 10 days. We’ve been cranking out the most delicious cocktails as usual and also providing exciting molecular canapés at top events in London and the South East.

The most exciting events of recent times have been the huge launch of Dom Perignon’s new luminous bottle at One Mayfair, where we served luminous champagne jelly to mimic the bottle and also provided the full bar, working with the-recipe.

Other stormers have been The Butterfly Ball with Peri-Peri Events where Mixology Group again served a range of delicious molecular canapés on beautifully decorated trays, much to the delight of guests. Most recently, we have teamed up with Mustard Catering to deliver some truly inspiring events to star studded crowds. Such Luminaries as David Frost, Lily Cole, Robbie Williams, Jo Whiley and even Sir Paul McCartney to name but a few all had a taste of Mixology Group medicine this week.

Training wise we’ve been out and about in Africa, training the bar teams at New Hilton Hotels in Namibia, and designing training and team-building experiences for hospitality staff in Central London. Coming up we’ve got some more African Adventures and potentially some Whiskey Work in South America too!

Here at MGHQ we are all looking forward to the summer season as it gets into full swing and we hope you are too. Keep your eyes out and ears tuned in to upcoming events and the next few course dates for our wonderful courses in Brighton – coming soon!

Time for an update…

September 16, 2010 in blog, the-recipe, updates

Well, here we all are with the very best of intentions – wishing to run our blog seamlessly in-line with our operations and keep all of you lovely people thoroughly up to date with what’s going on for us down here in Brighton and of course where we are running about and what we are doing there. We’re only a couple of weeks in and we are happy to inform you that we have been finding it difficult to jeep up with that mission – because we are just to busy!

So here’s a quick round-up of what we are up to…

We are doing a lot of work at the moment with Funkin, the fruit puree bunch. To be exact, there are ten dates that Mixology Group will be picking up for them across the UK where we’ll be training the lovely staff of the Luminar group in all things cocktail as they take their first steps into a new menu based around the Funkin single serve cocktail pouch range. This is a great range of products which really bring freshness into a whole new dimension, allowing massive venues such as these the opportunity to roll with a bigger and better cocktail menu than ever before. We’ve already met the lovely people in Basildon and Bristol and other joints too, next up are places like Windsor, Plymouth and more.

With that we are continuing our good work with The-Recipe, most excellent london caterers. This weekend will see us take the reigns of the bars at our fourth and fifth events with the fabulous crew from N1. We’ll be mixing drinks at London’s Natural History Museum and back at OneMarylebone for a glamorous party. Here’s to many more!

Finally, we have exciting news brewing with a great bunch of brand all gathered together in a couple of portfolios to make your mouth water – more news on these to come…

’til next time – MG

Advertising Producers Association Show 2010

September 10, 2010 in blog, Events, the-recipe

Last night saw Mixology Group working with The-Recipe again at the Advertising Producers Association’s annual show. The venue was One Marylebone, a stunning old church just near Regent’s Park, which had been decked out with state of the art lighting, audio and video installations and had the underground crypt converted into an amazing nightclub.

Seven bars spread across three floors and the garden space outside kept the drinks flowing well into the evening as seven hundred guests mingled around enjoying delicious Lychee Martinis, Moscow Mules and Brambles, all lovingly crafted by the Mixology Group Team. We’d like to say a big thank you to all of the bartenders and of course the bar-back crew who turned out for the night to make it one to remember.

We’re all looking forward to the next event which is coming up tomorrow in Hackney.
